The Erie County Technical School (ECTS), is a career and technical education institution located on Oliver Road that Fort LeBoeuf High School has a partnership with, to provide students with the opportunity to earn high school credit while gaining technical training through classroom instruction, hands-on experiences, and cooperative education opportunities.
ECTS allows students to combine FLB core curriculum (English, Math, Science and Social Studies) with the ECTS technical and hands-on education, the credits students earn at ECTS will fulfill their elective credits for FLB graduation requirements.The programs offered at ECTS, prepare students to directly enter the workforce or continue their education through apprenticeship programs, technical training programs or post-secondary institutions.
During the Freshman year, students will have to opportunity to learn more about the programs offered at ECTS and then take a tour of the building in the Fall. After that interested students can apply to ECTS and if accepted will start attending at the beginning of their Sophomore year.
1. When can my student apply to ECTS? Students can apply in the Fall of their Freshman year, they will hear a presentation and visit ECTS before applications are live. The applications can be accessed online by visiting www.ects.org. ECTS determines if students are accepted and will make announcements in the Spring of their Freshman year.
2. How long are the ECTS programs? All the programs are designed as three year programs. Students must attend during their sophomore, junior and senior years in order to earn the Industry Certificate associated with the lab of enrollment.
3. Will my student have the opportunity to take varying levels of curriculum? Yes, all the students have the opportunity to schedule courses that will challenge them. Students attending ECTS will receive Honors weighting for the 2nd and 3rd years at ECTS and their elective credits will be fulfilled by the credits earned at ECTS. The School Counselor will work with students individually to create a schedule to meet their goals.
4. What will my student’s schedule look like if they attend ECTS?
Students attending their 1st year will attend ECTS in the morning, for their 1st and 2nd period classes and return to FLB for their 3rd and 4th period classes.
Typically, students attending their 2nd and 3rd years will attend ECTS in the afternoon for their 3rd and 4th period classes and attend FLB in the morning for their 1st and 2nd period classes.
*There are exceptions to this typical schedule and each individual situation will be addressed.
5. How will my student get to ECTS? FLB Transportation will take students to and from the High School and ECTS, parents may also drop students off or pick up at ECTS. Once students have their driver's license they are able to drive themselves to both FLB & ECTS once their vehicles are registered at both schools.
6. What time will ECTS PM students arrive back at FLB High School? ECTS PM students will arrive at FLB by 3:05 p.m. Students must find transportation home from the high school or they may ride an elementary bus home, either from Robison Elementary or Waterford Elementary.
7. Can my student still participate in FLB sports/clubs/activities? Yes, many students participate in FLB athletics and/or clubs/activities, if the time conflict arrangements can be made with their coach/advisor.

Students must:
Earn minimum of 28 prescribed credits
Demonstrate proficiency in mathematics, literature, and biology as demonstrated on the Pennsylvania Department of Education Keystone Exams
Compete a Senior English project in the English 12 Research course
