A nostalgic evening filled with music, stalls, snacks and childhood games to introduce the student body to The Queer Collective's new team and reopen a space for all students to mingle and unwind.
Held in collaboration with the Department of Sociology, Intimacy and Risk was a seminar conducted by Professor Chandan Bose, a guest speaker from IIT Hyderabad. Professor Bose's research centered around the risk of violence faced by gay men in India while seeking intimacy through dating apps, which was explored and highlighted in depth through the talk as well as the discussion session that followed.
The Department of Sociology in collaboration with the Queer Collective conducted a screening of the Indian short film "Sheer Qorma", directed by Faraz Arif Ansari, in March, which was followed by a panel discussion with them on questions of intersectional love and social justice.
In order to truly celebrate and redefine love for a non-cis, hetero, and allosexual world, The Queer Collective organised a Valentine’s Market at the Academic Spine with booths where students and even faculty could get matching henna tattoos, tarot love readings, custom tote bags, t-shirts, and of course - flowers!
On every Friday in the month of January, The Queer Collective in collaboration with FLAME Film Society conducted a series of screenings of queer films (Indian short films, love stories, documentaries) which were then followed by riveting discussions on their themes and the audience’s personal experiences.
In collaboration with The Front Row, a screening of one of the most famous queer movies along with chips, cold drinks, popcorn and a photobooth for postcards and polaroids to capture your very own portrait.
The first official event of The Queer Collective of the year, Gay-pardy Night was a queer themed Jeopardy night and mixer filled with (common and obscure) trivia about all things queer, ranging from media, history to fictional characters.
