The Drumming club (under music club) is organising a workshop for students interested in formally learning how to play the drums. This would be for the whole semester and would be for one hour a week. The idea here is to help those interested build a solid foundation - Enough to allow you to play and perform some basic rock and pop music.
Learning the drums takes a certain amount of commitment in terms of practice, and it makes it a lot easier for us to tailor this to individual interests, so please ONLY consider this if you're really keen and can commit regularly to this. That being said, anyone is welcome to signup, whether you've learnt music or not. Look forward to seeing you there!
Below is a list of things this workshop would cover:
- Basics in notation and sheet music
- Weaker limb training and building muscle memory
- Rudiments (types of drum strokes, stick-holding techniques, etc).
- Understanding basic time signatures (¾, 4/4, 6/8, 8th notes, 16th notes)
- Drum fills
- Independent coordination
- Song rhythm dissection
- Songs based in various genres
