Acapella is all about recreating music using voice. Everything from the instruments to the drums is sung, making it 100% authentic. Starting in 2019, Students from across batches got together to produce, practice and perform acapella renditions of their favourite songs. It was a great experience - A chance to grow our vocal skills, and bond with other singers.
Over course of the year, a few practice sessions were held to practice songs for different events. Though, unfortunately, we never really did get to perform, we still managed to get together and sing. The following are two of the biggest collaborations done as a part of acapella:
1) Malhar Fest - To kickstart the year, students from both the first and second year got together to prepare for the Malhar fest in Mumbai, which featured an acapella event. Practice went on for about a week before the fest, headed by the then President of the Club - Muskaan Malhotra.
2) Hallelujah - Around the time of December, in light of Christmas, about 15 students got together to sing carols, but with a twist. In a span of about a week, we were able to recreate the popular christmas song - "Hallelujah" with just voices, including some beatboxing and sound effects. We managed to take a recording of our practice sessions, but sadly, weren't able to perform it.
Looking Ahead, this year the club plans to make a more formal attempt to have more frequent collaboration in the form of acapella sessions and events. The initiative, titled "Aca-Awesome" is set to kickstart with the beginning of the next academic year
