For your audition, follow these requirements:
A maximum of 32 bars from a show tune. The song must be from the musical theatre repertoire - a show that has been produced on Broadway, Off-Broadway, or the West End. Songs from musicals made only as movies but not produced on stage are not allowed.
You must bring a pre-recorded backing track for your audition and have it cued ready to play. There will not be live accompaniment on piano.
No a cappella auditions. You must bring a backing track for your song in the key you're singing and have it already cued and ready to play for your 32 bars.
It is expected you will have read the script/libretto for the show your song is from.
You are expected to perform the song, not just stand and sing it. This requires knowing the show the song is from, your character, why your character is singing this song in the story.
Prepare a one-minute monologue from a musical.
It is expected you will have read the script/libretto for the show your monologue is from. Thus you will understand your character and the context of your monologue in the show.
Everyone must audition for this class each year.
