EDpuzzle gives the teacher the capability to crop, customize, and remix online videos for your classroom. I began using EDpuzzle in my computer science classes because the curriculum I was using had a component that included videos. The students did not seem to be watching the entire video so I searched for a solution. That solution was EDpuzzle. EDpuzzle gives the teacher the capability to select videos from YouTube, Khan Academy, TED Talks, and Vimeo and more or you can upload a video. It tracks how much of the video each student watches.
After the video is selected, a teacher can trim, add questions, add comments or even voice overs to the video. With Google Classroom integration, the video can be assigned to a class through Google Classroom. A teacher can access the percentage that each student viewed the video and the answers that were submitted. The teacher also has the capability of grading the students' answers.
EDpuzzle also offers Curriculum Service. The Curriculum Service option EDpuzzle employees curate the best videos in the EDpuzzle database and organize them by subject area and topic to create a supplemental curriculum to help teachers find what they need. With just one click, any teacher can have all the content for the year!
As part of a raffle prize that I won at a recent edCamp, Sunny Hills High School teachers have access to Curriculum Service.
In an email to me Xavi Francas from EDpuzzle states
In order to help you and other teachers in your school this year, I unlocked the curriculum service for your school, which can be found by any teacher of your school by going to Search > My School, and clicking on Curriculum.
We have selected and curated the best videos in our database and organized them by subject area and topic to create a supplemental curriculum that makes it very easy for teachers to find what they need, saving a ton of time. The majority of the videos already have questions embedded so they are just ready to go. Each of you can use up to 5 of the videos hosted there. It'll make it much easier to get started!
Thinking about trying out EDpuzzle? I have included a video below to help you get started.
