I am sure if you have heard about Desmos. Most math teachers have. It began as a graphing calculator app that runs in the cloud. Desmos has built into its app some lesson building capabilities and some gaming features. One activity that can be created using Desmos is a Polygraph. It is a series of 16 cards and 2 students or 2 pairs of students join together to "play" the game. The game consists of a student selecting one of 16 cards. The other player must guess the card that was chosen by the other player by asking yes or no questions. This could be a great activity in many subject areas when the teacher wants to review vocabulary.

You could hear all of the aahs in the room. I wanted to suggest some math vocabulary terms that the students could be using when asking their questions when they continued their game.

Another activity that you can build with Desmos is Card Sorts. The students can work individually or in pairs to group sets of cards according to the instructions given. I created a card short with a graph, a range and a domain. The students enjoyed the practice assignment. Click on the link to view a card sort for English where the students group adjectives, nouns, verbs and adverbs and the other is a Chemistry card sort out the Periodic Table.
