Our first graders explored the wonders of light and shadows by designing their own shadow puppets. As part of their science unit on light and sound, students experimented with how light interacts with objects, discovering how shadows change based on distance and angle. They brought their imaginative stories to life using simple materials like paper, craft sticks, and a flashlight.
Our first graders became young engineers as they explored what birds need to build nests! Using a variety of materials like clay, pom-poms, pipe cleaners, and natural elements, they designed and constructed their own bird nests in the Makerspace. As part of their science unit, students learned how birds gather materials to create safe and sturdy homes for their eggs. Check out the photos to see their creative and cozy nest designs!
