CASAS is used to match curriculum and instruction to a student’s specific strengths and needs. Results are mandatory for CDE funding.
CASAS is used to match curriculum and instruction to a student’s specific strengths and needs. Results are mandatory for CDE funding.
When do students take CASAS?
When do students take CASAS?
Students are given the test initially as a diagnostic and then periodically to check for progress. Students are required to post-test every 40-100 hours of instruction. Every date of attendance from continuous enrollment will equal 1.3 hours of instruction.
For example:
31 days of attendance = 40.3 hours of attendance
54 days of attendance = 70.2 hours of attendance

GOALS (Greater Opportunities for Adult Learning Success) uses all new test items that measure academic language and higher-order reading for students enrolled in high school courses.
STEPS Reading Series
STEPS Reading Series
For students enrolled in English as a Second Language class, the CASAS is used to measure Reading skills specific to the Five Keys ESL student population.
