 What Is the Foster Portal?

The Foster Portal is your personal dashboard inside our rescue system, Animals First. It’s where you’ll help shape and tell the story of your foster dog.

From the moment a dog enters our care, we use this system to:

• Track their medical records

• Store contracts and documentation

• Monitor how long they've been in foster care

• Manage their adoptable profile

• And much more behind-the-scenes magic

It keeps us organized, efficient, and ready to act — especially during busy seasons or high-volume rescue efforts.

 Why Does This Matter to YOU as a Foster?

Because YOU know your foster dog best.

You live with them. You learn their quirks, their routines, what scares them, what lights them up. YOU are the one building trust with them daily — and we need you to share that magic.

Here’s how:

• In your Foster Portal, you’ll fill out the “Forward-Facing” sections — things like:

  • Personality traits

  • Favorite activities

  • Routines

  • Triggers or sensitivities

  • What kind of home would be best for them

• This info is what adopters see on the dog's public profile on our website.

• It’s how we create great matches — not just any match.

Think of it as writing their dating profile for their future forever home. When you input thoughtful, honest details, you’re helping them find the family that truly fits.

No worries! If you haven’t already scheduled your Foster Portal Training, please reach out to your Foster Director or Coordinator right away. It only takes a few minutes to learn, and it makes a huge impact.
