Abstract:
Traffic collisions in India are a major cause of deaths, injuries and property damage in these years. Accident by definition means “an unexpected and unintentional incident, causing damage or injury”; but in most cases, accidents can be avoided if certain precautions are taken. There are certain set of traffic rules for the vehicles plying on roads. If any of these rules is violated, the consequences can be serious and in certain cases, even fatal. So, it should be ensured that traffic rules are followed by the commuters and drivers.
As a first step to prevent accidents, accident black spots are identified. There are various methods available for the same. Following this, the various measures that need to be followed to prevent these unexpected events are analyzed and are put into effect.
The aim of this project is to analyze the accident data of Koratty and Angamaly police station boundaries, identify the locations with maximum accident rate and investigate the crash scenes in order to analyze the causes. From the information thus obtained, an attempt will be made to draw the collision and condition diagrams and also to develop an accident prediction model of these hazardous locations. Analyzing these results, the measures that could be adopted to prevent further accidents will be suggested.
Abstract: In the current era where sustainability is the essence of any construction, the industry demands Civil Engineers to be able to handle challenges faced expeditiously. Civil Engineering practitioners require an overview of Structural Design and Construction Management knowledge for professional excellence. The industry needs to be in harmony with nature and hence a strong interdisciplinary approach is required in resolving any Civil Engineering problems.
SECON, the Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction Management aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and practitioners in the field of structural mechanics, associated computation & structural engineering and construction management to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of Structural Engineering and Construction Management. It also provides a platform for researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss recent and state-of-the-art achievements in the advancement of knowledge and understanding in these areas, to address the challenges that the present and the future pose and the solutions adopted in the fields of Structural Engineering and Construction Management.
Abstract:
India has a large network of industries located in different parts of the country. Several million metric tons of industrial wastes are produced in these establishments. Safe disposal of these wastes is a great problem. If these materials can be suitably utilized in highway construction, the pollution and disposal problems may be partly reduced. This study mainly concentrates on the use of locally available agricultural waste like rice husk ash as filler in warm mix asphalt (WMA). The volumetric and Marshall properties of WMA prepared using rice husk ash as filler are evaluated and compared. The low temperature mixes like WMA reduces energy consumptions and emissions in asphalt paving industry. In addition, the use of waste material like rice husk ash in pavement mixes solves the waste disposal issues. Thus, this study focuses on sustainable pavement construction.
Abstract:
Traffic congestion is increasing globally, and this problem needs to be addressed by the traffic management system. The number of vehicles continuously increases faster than the available traffic infrastructure to support. Congestion is a difficult issue to deal with and it becomes even worse in case of road accidents. This problem affects many aspects of the modern society, including economic development, traffic accidents, increase in greenhouse emissions, time spent, and health damage. According to the traffic signal, an efficient signal time is one of the most cost-effective ways to improve traffic flow and safety and also minimizing emission and fuel consumption. Traffic volume studies are to determine the number, movement and classification of vehicles at Pulimoodu junction. These data is used identify the normal flow of the road and to determine the influence of heavy vehicles or pedestrians on vehicular traffic volume. The collected data is converted into PCU units. Webster’ method is used here for designing the signal timing. Traffic signaling is installed by using PTV VISSIM software. As per the present scenario COVID 19 is spreading all over the world and causes tremendous increase in the rate of death so to meet with the situation we introduce a route connecting the different quarantine homes with the respective hospital and thereby reducing the amount of community spreading. After analyzing the selected study area we had provided rerouting, widening, emission modeling and prohibition of right turn for the smooth traffic flow.
Abstract:
Traffic on roads consists of road users including pedestrians, ridden or herded animals, vehicles, streetcars, buses and other conveyances, either singly or together, while using the public way for purposes of travel. Traffic is formally organized in many jurisdictions, with marked lanes, junctions, intersections, interchanges, traffic signals, or signs. Traffic engineering is that phase of engineering that deals with the planning, geometric design and traffic operations of transportation systems including roads, streets, highways, sidewalks and bicycle lanes for the achievement of safe, efficient and convenient movement of people and goods.
It focuses mainly on research for safe and efficient traffic flow, such as road geometry, sidewalks and crosswalks, cycling infrastructure, traffic signs, road surface markings and traffic lights. Typical traffic engineering projects involve designing traffic control device installations and modifications, including traffic signals, signs, and pavement markings. However, traffic engineers also consider traffic safety by investigating locations with high crash rates and developing countermeasures to reduce crashes.
In recent years, the increase in road traffic and in the demand for transport have caused serious congestion, delays, accidents and environmental problems. It affects both motorists and users of public transport, and as well as reducing economic efficiency. The most obvious consequence of congestion is the increase in travel time, especially at peak periods, which has reached levels well above those considered acceptable in some cities. The purpose of this project is to bring out a solution for these congestion problems by using a traffic simulation software. In Anylogic software, traffic models will be developed on the basis of our proposals and thus the traffic operations will be analysed.
