Grade 6-8
Student Handbook

Dear Students, Parents and Families,

It is our pleasure, on behalf of Frankfurt International School, to welcome you all to a new school year (and for some to a new school). You are important members of our Upper School and we hope the year(s) ahead are dynamic and full of friendships, opportunities and adventures.

FIS is a school of tradition and values; our mission is to inspire young individuals to develop their intellect, creativity to become independent, socially responsible and internationally minded citizens by ensuring a dynamic, inquiry-driven education of the highest standard.

Therefore, there are many expectations of every student, such as intellectual rigor and high academic standards; honesty, integrity and respect for others and the environment are also trademarks of the FIS student. In return we (the faculty and staff) work hard to help you achieve your potential and nurture your talents by providing a strong and cohesive school community.

This handbook is a guide to help you understand your role and the role of others in our school. It is a set of guidelines and expectations. As you progress through from Grade 6 to 12 you will find the responsibilities and expectations reach higher levels. The Grade 6-8 portion of this journey has specific challenges and rewards that make it a special time in your lives.

At FIS the opportunities are many and varied and always designed to give you the chance to strive for excellence and self-discovery.

We are a school that strives to have no surprises, so please read this handbook carefully, so that we can keep a strong home-school partnership alive. We look forward to getting to know you all and working closely with you.

I look forward to a year of growth.

Sincerely,

Jaia Masterson,
