Action Steps:

• Develop the Outdoor Learning program with goals by grade and minimum expectations

• Establish common expectations for how children will participate in Outdoor Learning across the grade levels to include opportunities in the forest, pond area and garden

• Promote student responsibility for maintenance of the vegetable and flower beds outside the Primary School

• Through outdoor learning, nurture a love of nature to build lifelong environmental advocates

• Link NGSS standards with outdoor learning lessons and environment

• Document student engagement with age appropriate actions around the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Action Steps:

• Explore ways to embed the UN Sustainable Development Goals in areas of curriculum that are being reviewed (NGSS, C3)

• Include student and faculty membership on the Sustainability Committee

• Develop new service projects aligned with global awareness (such as Youth Against Prejudice)

• Host a guest speaker visit to speak with G6-12 students about antiracism in September

• Have a House system hiatus for 2020-21 to develop a G6-8 relation based advisory program (overhauling the homeroom system) and explore where the House system can add to this new structure; advisory issues to include Social and Environmental Responsibility

• Reconceptualize Earth Summit to be more aligned with the C3 Humanities framework for roll out in 2021/22

• Continue with green initiatives from service clubs

Action Steps:

• Review our curriculum for opportunities and omissions, regarding social and environmental awareness and action opportunities

• Establish a forum for students, to embrace student voice, and engage in age appropriate and meaningful student action relevant to them

• Ensure students at all ages are exploring and connecting to the IB learner profile across the curriculum and in HR/advisory classes, in age-appropriate language and ways

• Further explore the role of the UN Sustainable Development Goals across our curriculum and school

• Continue to design and develop the FISW outdoor learning area to increase biodiversity and enhance sustainability

• Change our school caterer to Bio company, following German Health guidelines for schools

• Appoint a new FISW representative and maintain connection to the FIS Sustainability Council

• Meet and work with the local forester to establish guidelines and responsibilities for our visits to and use of the local environment and forests

• Develop a long term, grade-by-grade program for Outdoor Education and FISW Commitment to Environmental Responsibility

• Introduce a 'gardening' aspect, including food production, into our Outdoor Learning Program

• Develop a task force to reduce waste on campus and increase composting

• Develop partnerships e.g. Wiesbaden Forestry to support tree planting
