It is our goal to provide a safe, nurturing, and healthy environment for our adults, children, and youth.
Nursery (Newborns - 3 years old)
Infants and toddlers enjoy their Sunday mornings playing with our childcare workers in the Nursery. Our volunteers provide a warm and caring environment during worship services in the Nursery. Age appropriate toys, crafts and stories are provided. Children gain a sense of belonging to their religious community.
Chalice Children (PreK - 1st graders)
Prekindergartners -Kindergartners learn by playing and doing. We provide opportunities for asking questions, wondering why and how, and learning about being in community together. Using stories, play, crafts, and songs we explore Unitarian Universalist rituals, spiritual practices, and values
Seekers (2nd - 3rd graders)
Explorers (4th - 6th graders)
2nd - 3rd graders and 4th - 6th graders are exploring our Unitarian Universalists values using games, crafts, songs and stories. Our children learn who Unitarian Universalists are, what we believe, and how we live in faith. They are equipped with language and experiences to answer big questions and help them develop a strong Unitarian Universalist identity.
Youth Group (7th - 12th graders)

For the safety of everyone at First Unitarian Church, all children and youth must be registered in order to attend religious exploration programs and activities.
Our Sunday School is a Cooperative Religious Exploration Program. A cooperative means that we depend on each other and that every person contributes to the strength and vitality of our program. Therefore, parents with children enrolled in Religious Exploration are expected to participate in the program. A list of volunteer opportunities is provided with the yearly registration or you may speak with the Director of Religious Exploration, Catherine Williamson.
Stay informed about what is happening in your child’s religious exploration group. Make a point to meet your child’s Guides, Assistant and the Director of Religious Education. Read the church newsletter, which is emailed every week and read CYRE News and Notes. Check out the CYRE website at http://sites.google.com/site/firstuuwilmcyre/
Parents must remain at First Unitarian Church during Sunday School. If this is not possible, please arrange for another adult to be responsible for your child. Inform the DRE and classroom Guide of these arrangements in writing.
Register for CYRE every year and sign up for volunteer opportunities.
