In order to have a successful training session using the Nova Scotia Firefighters School's Mobile Burn Unit, the following items must be present:
In order to have a successful training session using the Nova Scotia Firefighters School's Mobile Burn Unit, the following items must be present:
- Flat surface approximately 60' x 100'
- Reasonable access to water (2 separate pressurized sources as per NFPA 1403)
- engine, pumper or portable pump
- Hose supply - 100 feet of 21/2 ", 300 feet of 13/4" with nozzles
- Students provide their own PPE and SCBA
- Other required firefighting equipment

- Must be able to host the MBU for 5 days.
- Must identify a representative who will work on logistics with the NSFS staff.
- Must have someone present to position the trailer when it is delivered.
- Must provide a pumper and volunteer operator for each session.
- Students must meet live fire prerequisites as per NFPA 1403 - section 5.1.1(see attached sheet)
- To maximize utilization of the MBU in rural Nova Scotia, we encourage you to promote the opportunity and involve your area departments.
- All applications for individual students must be submitted to the Nova Scotia Firefighters School in advance of the course date or the course will be canceled.
