Matting
Only work selected for exhibition needs to be matted.
Black or white mats only. (NOT cream/ off-white)
3-inch mats best accommodate the label
Labels will be attached on-site this year
Mats must be fully backed edge-to-edge with rigid, solid corrugated board or foam. (will be DQ)
Single mats only, no double mats (will be DQ)
2-D work MUST be matted, with the exception of stretched canvases and canvas boards
Photographs and digital work print minimum size 5 x 7 inches
No mats on stretched canvas, canvas boards or panels (will be DQ)
No unsealed glitter
Charcoal/ chalk/ dry pastel, oil pastel must be sprayed and acetate covered (will be DQ)
Attach acetate to interior of mat frame, hinge the mat
3-D work must be labeled and ready to sit in a showcase, on a pedestal or hung from the ceiling.
Installation, Certificates & De-installation
Installation
Art teachers of exhibiting students prepare, deliver and hang the selected work to the Stocker Gallery at the Lorain County Community College on Jan. 11, 2025 to mount the exhibition. Installation is 9 am until noon. Arrive early to get the better spaces in the gallery.
Labels will be attached on-site this year

Silver & Gold Key "stickers" are pre-printed on your labels
hang Gold Key works on right wall only, mix remaining 7-12 grade HM and SK works throughout gallery. DO NOT CREATE SCHOOL CLUMPS!

2025 Certificates
PRINT YOUR OWN Honorable Mention and Silver Key certificates from your teacher dashboard beginning Mar. 29, 2025. TBD
Your Gold Key certificates will be prepared by the Affiliate Chair and presented to your student at the Gold Key Awards Program Feb. 2, 2025.
De-installation
Art teachers of exhibiting students are responsible for the de-installation of the gallery and collecting their students' works on Feb. 11, 2025. There is no place to store work that is left behind.

Gallery Volunteers
The participating art teachers are obligated to volunteer as "gallery sitter" for at least 1 afternoon shift in the gallery. Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from 4-6:30 pm.

National Exhibition
All works earning a regional “Gold Key” advance directly to national jurying in New York City this March.
Results of national adjudication are typically announced by the end of March.
Works compete for Silver and Gold Medals, American Vision Medals as well as scholarships. All medalists are included in an online exhibition. Some medalists are selected for scholarships, publication in the “Best Teen Art” annual catalog and for in-person exhibition in New York City. Works selected for the national exhibition are the responsibility of the art teacher/ student to ship to New York City as instructed. The national exhibition is typically held in New York City in June. This year the timeline is TBD.
