Sigma Tau Delta | Xi Theta Chapter Meeting Minutes

September 18, 2018

Present: Charlotte Smith, Peyton Sibert, Abigail Frye, Tessa Jenkins, Meghan Keeley and Emily Dykes, Dr. Diederich, Dr. Elkie

Next meeting: September 25, 2018, 5:30-7:30, Terry Conference Room (AMU) most likely, club meeting

Topics Discussed

1. Homecoming Week Activity

a. Tuesday, Oct. 2nd, 6-8pm in Shafer Library, Book Page Crafts!

b. Create advertisement flyers

i. Will be done by Emily and submitted by Sept. 24th

c. Be thinking of craft ideas

i. A Google Doc will be created and sent out so people can add their ideas and/or links to tutorials

ii. Craft will need to be approved by the library by next Tuesday (Sept. 25)

2. Bookmark-Making Party

a. Oct. 30th, 5:30-7:30

b. Location TBD, but will be on campus

c. Supplies provided by Dr. Elkie 3.

Decoration of Library Bookcase

a. Nov. 1st

b. Hosted with the English Department

c. Decoration ideas needed! Possibilities discussed include:

i. Writing theme

ii. From the Writers’ Kitchen, Slippery Elm, Faculty Publications

iii. Sigma Tau Delta/Scribblers’ Circle promotion

iv. Being an English major/minor

v. NCUR

d. Additional ideas from all are welcome! All contributions will be needed by Oct. 11th, and with all ideas collected, we can begin assigning sections to people to begin the decorating process

4. Fundraiser Bake Sale

a. Nov. 14th (1-3pm) & Nov. 15th (11am-2pm)

i. For the first day, baked goods can be picked up from Dr. Elkie’s office at 12:30pm

ii. Another Google Doc will be sent out so everyone can upload their availabilities to work the bake sale table

5. Shakespeare-Off

a. Sept. 25th, 5:30-7:30, meeting for the whole club and the Theater Honor Society, probably will be held in the Terry Conference Room (AMU), confirmation and reminder email will be sent out once finalized.

b. Topics to consider

i. Who will author the questions

ii. Who will moderate

iii. Teams iv. When v. Open to public/campus vs. just between the clubs

Christmas Wreath Party

a. A week night

b. Fundraiser form will be filled out once the date is decided on

7. Historians Update

a. Website!

i. Google Doc will be shared so everyone can see what will be on the chapter’s page

8. Vagina Monologue Workshop

a. Help people craft pieces to share
