Graduation Requirements
What are Graduation Pathways?
Students have options to meet a graduation pathway connected to their High School and Beyond Plan. The following eight graduation pathway options are available for students to meet at least one ELA and one Math State Graduation Requirement:
1. Statewide Assessment Scores
Smarter Balanced: ELA = 2548; math = 2595 OR WA-AIM: ELA = 104; math = 103
2. Career and Technical Education (CTE) Course Sequence (Meets both ELA & Math Requirements)s
Complete 2.0 credits in the same CTE Pathway (See Fife High School Course Catalog) to meet both ELA and Math requirements
3. College Admission Exam Scores
ACT (ELA = 14; math = 16) OR SAT (ELA = 410; math = 430)
4. Dual Credit High School Course Completion (does not require AP test or earning college credit)*
CTE Dual Credit Courses: Must pass FHS course and earn high school credit
Qualifying courses for ELA include: Business Communication
Qualifying courses for Math includes: Accounting, Financial Algebra, and AP Computer Science Principles
College in the High School or Running Start College Courses (by approval): Must pass course
Qualifying courses for ELA include: AP Language & Composition or AP Literature & Composition
Qualifying courses for Math include - Pre-Calculus, AP Statistics, or Calculus
Running Start College courses: Math and/or English courses above 100 level
AP Courses: Earn a C+ or higher grade
Qualifying courses for ELA include: AP English Language and Composition, AP English Literature and Composition, AP US History, AP US Government and Politics
Qualifying courses for Math include: AP Statistics, AP Computer Science Principles
5. Dual Credit College Exam Scores*
Must pass qualifying AP exam with a minimum score of 3
Qualifying AP tests for ELA include: AP English Language and Composition, AP English Literature and Composition, AP US History, AP US Government and Politics
Qualifying AP tests for Math include: AP Statistics, AP Computer Science Principles
6. High School Bridges Transition Course
Bridge to College Transition courses: Must pass course if available
7. Combine Graduation Pathways
Please note, students can meet their graduation pathways requirement with a combination of at least one math and one ELA pathway from the above options.
8. Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)
Score = 31 - Meets both ELA and Math requirements

*Additional options available for transfer students with Cambridge or IB courses.
