Shensi Province, Hsi-an | Date: T’ang | Stone tablet, Buddhism: Buddha image and votive inscription | Title: Buddha image erected by Feng Family | Description: This Buddhist image was erected by the Feng Family to bless their parents and ancestors. Rubbings from four faces of the stone table were mounted together onto the present scroll. The upper part shows the image of Buddha, and under it is the name of the offerer, almost illegible. The rubbing under this is a Buddha image with two attendants, and below is a list of names of the descendants who made the image offering. The face to the right is another Buddha image accompanied by attendants. The name of the offerer is underneath. The face to the left also shows a Buddha image and two attendants.

Shensi Province, Hsi-an | Date T'ang 815 A.D. | Clay: figure, Buddhism: stamped inscription votive | Title: stamped inscription from Bodhisattva modeled in clay | Description: Rubbing with date from the back of a clay- miniature image of a Bodhisattva done in the same style as miniature bronze figures. The inscription shown here had been stamped into the clay. Hundreds of these have been found at sites of anciet pagodas. The practice itself originated in India.
