INFORMATION PROCESSES OF LIVING THINGS

this science unit will focus on structure function and information processing. Specifically, students will investigate sight and examine how animals see objects. Next students will examine how plants and animals have internal structures that support survival, growth, behavior, and reproduction. Lastly, we will understand a model of how animals process information through their 5 senses and then send signals to their brains which cause them to respond in different ways.

EARTH SCIENCE

This unit will emphasize the difference between weathering and erosion. We will be exploring different forms of erosion, examining fossils and rock layers and what we can learn from them, as well as looking at earthquakes, volcanoes, and Tsunamis. Students will then be examining how they can reduce the impacts of these natural hazards. Lastly, we will look at natural resources and how humans shape the land and impact the resources.

PHYSICAL SCIENCE: Energy and Waves

In this science unit, students will be defining what energy is, and studying energy of motion, sound, heat, and light. Students will be completing investigations and designing models to explain how energy works in the different modalities.Â
