5th and 6th Grade Procedures:
📞 If your student is or will be absent, please contact the school office. We also appreciate getting messages regarding this information on Remind. If you know about an appointment in advance, please let us know ASAP so we can get work/assignments ready. This will help your child stay on track.
📱 5th/6th Graders who bring phones/smartwatches/tablets to school need to leave them at the office during the day. They can be picked up at 3:30 PM.
📱7th Graders in my classroom will follow the 7-12 Phone Policy, which utilizes Yondr Pouches. My classroom policy: Phones must be turned off and all phones/smartwatches must be in the pouch by 8:28 AM each morning. If you need to contact your learner during the day, please call the school office or contact me on Remind and we will make sure that message gets to your student.
📚 We encourage parents/guardians to keep track of their students' grades on PowerSchool. If you need your PowerSchool information, please contact Ms. Shantel Muscha at the school office or via email at shantel.muscha@fessenden.k12.nd.us. She can help you get set up.
👩🏻🏫 Eligibility checks will be done beginning in Week 3 of each Quarter, and students must be passing all of their classes in order to participate in extracurricular activities. We also will be encouraging our 5th/6th graders to check their grades and also utilize their daily planners to stay organized. If a student gets behind in work or we start having some concerns, we may set up a planner arrangement (parent/guardian/teacher signature), but for the time being, we will see how the students self-manage (before we put that in place).
🎂 If students have a birthday during the school year (or would like to celebrate their half birthday if their actual birthday falls in the summer), they are welcome to bring a treat for their class (if they wish). Cupcakes/muffins are popular or if you choose to send something in a pan, please make sure it is cut into the appropriate amount of pieces before you send it (6th Grade currently has 16 students and 5th Grade has 7 students). Thanks!
👟 Phy Ed Shoes (that are clean, not worn outside, and stay at school) are required for inside gym class (We are trying to keep our gym floor in good shape). If you have any questions regarding this, please let me know!
❄️As the weather gets colder, students will be expected to have appropriate outdoor gear (including a winter coat, snow pants, boots, hat, and gloves). This is especially important if your student rides a school bus. Please make sure your child brings his/her outdoor gear to school every day.
If you have any questions regarding any of this information, please reach out to me. Thank you!
