Students Below the Cut Score

Upon completion of the Fall, Winter and Spring MAP administration, a member of the Curriculum Department will meet with each PLC to review students that fall below the 21%ile.

Pull a grade level spreadsheet report and locate students that fall below the 21%ile. Draw a line. We will take a look at all the students above that line. This should make up about 20% of your total students at this grade level (Tier 3 - 5% and Tier 2 - 15%). If your numbers are high—exceeds 20% (this typically means there is a Tier 1 issue), then you will need to adjust your cut-point to roughly the bottom 15th or 10th percentile.

Next Steps:

Go through the list of students within your cut point and highlight students in orange that have already been identified as needing SpEd support. Please note that we are not ruling out or ignoring these identified students. We still need to visit with our SpEd department and determine effectiveness of accommodations and least restrictive environment (LRE).

Highlight students in gray that have already been identified as 504 students—note if it is dyslexia (DYS) or medical (MED). Again, we are not ruling out or ignoring these identified students. We still need to visit to determine effectiveness of accommodations and/or possible need for additional testing if student(s) continue to struggle.

Determine which students did not finish in an ample amount of time to successfully complete the screener.

Final Steps:

Students that have not been previously highlighted will be highlighted in yellow—these are the students that your PLC is going to determine next steps for—you will use other data points to determine student deficits and determine specific areas for intervention— this is critical as your intervention will need to be aligned to this.

Implement PLC recommended interventions with fidelity and documentation until your campus BOY meetings. Tiered interventions/PEIMS status will be determined based on the data you bring to the meeting.
