Once the general education teacher has implemented the intervention plan with fidelity for the duration indicated, a follow-up meeting must be held in order to determine whether or not to return to Tier 1, continue Tier 2 or move to Tier 3 interventions.
Be sure you have implemented the intervention plan with fidelity
Have at least 4 data points entered in Branching Minds for progress monitoring towards a goal
Bring current grades, benchmarks, MAP data and any other academic data to review
For behavior concerns, bring any discipline referral data, Branching Minds Incident reports, counseling visits, etc. to review
Progress monitoring data indicates:
1. Goal maintained, continuous success is established (exit criteria reached) -> discontinue interventions, return student to Tier 1 and end PEIMS status in Skyward
2. Goal achieved, success is evident, not yet maintained -> continue current interventions/Return to Tier 2
3. Goal not achieved, student is showing some response to intervention -> maintain current plan or modify some elements of the plan (goal, data collection method, etc.)
4. Little to no progress being made -> Professional input from district specialist will be implemented and a follow-up meeting will be scheduled to discuss progress
5. Little to no progress being made -> Consider referral to special education
If the CIT committee added interventions based on input from district specialist, the classroom teacher should implement intervention with fidelity and monitor progress weekly.
If the committee is considering a referral to special education, contact the campus assessment staff to take part in a final CIT Meeting. Parents must be notified by the Campus Intervention Team to schedule the meeting. The role of the assessment staff will be to provide notice and obtain informed consent.
Note: Allow assessment staff to review documentation checklist at least one week prior to scheduling final CIT meeting with parent.
