This workshop took place on the last day of the temporary exhibition "À Descoberta do Vidro: da Ciência à Arte", organised by the Centro de Ciência Viva do Alviela and VICARTE to celebrate the International Year of Glass 2022.

Workshop "Conservador-Restaurador de Azulejo por um Dia" - @ Open Day VICARTE

11 December 2021

During the Open Day event at VICARTE, we held an activity for children to "restore" an azulejo.

As families arrived for the Christmas sale and glass blow demonstrations, we asked them if the children would like to restore a tile.

They had to assemble the "puzzle" of tile fragments and then paint the missing piece using the colours available to tile painters. We made it simple enough for children of all ages, and easy enough so that it wouldn't take them long to finish and they could proudly take home their work.

This workshop was conducted by Master students of the Department of Conservation and Restoration at FCT-NOVA in collaboration with the European Project CraftHub.

Our special thanks to students Joana Fontes and Margarida Gomes, who made this event a success!

Workshop "Conservador-Restaurador de Azulejo por um Dia" - @ ClubMath

12 February 2022

ChromAz was present once again with this activity for children during the ClubMath session with the Department of Conservation and Restoration at FCT-NOVA. This time we had the opportunity to talk with children between 6 and 12 years of age about the importance of the Portuguese tile heritage while they assembled and "restored" a tile.

ClubMath is an initiative created by the Department of Mathematics of FCT-NOVA and is destined for students from the 1st to the 12th school year.

This session was hosted by the DCR-FCT-NOVA Professors Susana Sá and Filomena Macedo, students Joana Fontes, Margarida Gomes, Cristiana Prada and Carolina Viana, and VICARTE's researcher Susana Coentro.
