Books are expensive. The Franklin County School district is allocated $1.5 per student for the 2024-25 school year. While we are grateful for this funding, the average price of a hardbound book for a school library is about $18; graphic novels cost about $24/each. The generosity of the Sewanee Parent Organization and individual donors enables the library to purchase new titles (especially award winning titles), book sets for classroom teachers to use with reading groups, and enjoyable titles for our students--from beginning readers to advanced readers.
If you would like to donate a book to the library, you may do so in your child's name (maybe a birthday gift?), or in honor or memory of someone, or simply a donation to the school at large.
