And we're back...
Since The Voice's return to Millbrook two years ago, we have been working hard each year to improve in all ways. Following the success of Volume 12, No Strings Attached, we have had our work cut out for us.
Last year we had such amazing writing pieces that we expanded to an online publication as well. With out print publication at 33 pages and so many great works we had an online edition of an additional 12 spreads.
This year, however, we were blown away by the caliber of wonderful writing we received. We were able to increase are printed publication to 39 pages. But with the influx of great poetry and prose, our online edition this year added an extra 33 spreads.
We are so proud of our authors, artist, photographers, and designers for their fantastic work on this year's edition and we are honored to share Volume 13, Boiling Point magazine with you.
Congratulations to all writers, artists, designers, teachers and advisers that made this publication possible. Amazing work deserves highest awards, and we have some truly creative minds here at Millbrook High School.
Letter from Advisor Mrs. Lancaster:
On Saturday, (October 25, 2025), we attended the VHSL Media Championships where awards for last year's publications were announced. The Voice No Strings Attached was recognized with Trophy Class, which, as you know, is the top honor in the state!
I am especially proud of this distinction since it is only our second edition since relaunching the magazine! (Our first edition earned First Class.)
I want to also recognize Ms. Hoelen's contribution in leading her design classes in the layout of the magazine and production of the website. We would not have earned this award without her hours of hard work!
The Voice: No Strings Attached, has been selected to receive the rank of Excellent in the 2025 NCTE Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines (REALM) program. From all of us at the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), congratulations to you and your students on this exceptional publication. We commend you for inspiring a love of writing that your students will remember for the rest of their lives.
The mission of NCTE’s REALM program is to publicly recognize excellent literary magazines produced by students with the support of their teachers. REALM is designed to encourage all schools to develop literary magazines that celebrate the art and craft of writing. Your magazine is a fine example of this mission in action, and the REALM committee looks forward to seeing future publications from your school. We hope that you will widely share this accolade with your local community, personally and through social media, to increase the impact of your accomplishments.
Who we are, what we do, and what we stand for.
