National Board Certification is a voluntary process for teachers that is designed to complement initial state licensure. Frederick County Public Schools is offering $750 in local grants to teachers pursuing National Board Certification during the 2025-26 school year.
If selected for a local grant, the candidate must apply to NBPTS and make the required payments.
The local grant will be paid directly to the candidate after successful completion of the NBC process. The candidate submits their paid receipt (for all four components and any retake fees) and a copy of their certificate to the office of the Supervisor Professional Learning and Federal Programs.
Once the candidate has received notification they are a National Board Certified Teacher, the local salary incentive will be calculated and added to the monthly contracted salary prorated for the school year. The candidate will be paid retroactively to the beginning of the school year in one lump sum and then monthly for the remainder of the school year contract.
