OUR PROGRAMS
Food Pack Program
Poverty and hunger are among the many challenges some students face daily, often becoming a barrier to their success in school. The Food Pack Program aims to help families who experience food insecurity by supplying students with a weekend food bag. The program serves more than 1,500 students from all grade levels in Frederick County and Winchester City Public Schools.
Each food pack includes enough food to cover two breakfasts and two lunches, two snacks, a fruit, and a vegetable.
Each month, over 4,800 food packs are provided to students.
More than 40,000 non-perishable food items are needed monthly to meet the current need.
Student Response
When disaster strikes or a tragedy occurs that impacts a student, Bright Futures can pull from donated inventory to respond to the need.
Bright Futures collects hygiene items, clothing, shoes, shelf-stable food, and more to support students when they face challenges.
Outside of emergencies, Bright Futures aims to fulfill unmet needs that are creating a barrier to student success. From coats to shoes, or something else entirely - Bright Futures is ready to respond or help find a creative solution.
Stuff the Bus
Bright Futures collects school supplies for area students to set them up for success for the next school year.
Holiday Assistance
Students in WPS and FCPS in need can work with Bright Futures to coordinate holiday assistance. Families are submitted to Bright Futures through school staff or counselors and matched with a sponsor. In 2023, 1,250 students benefited from this valuable program.
