TAM Mentor Information
Welcome to the Teacher Academy of Maryland, otherwise known as TAM! This site has the answers to many of your questions about becoming a mentor to one of our amazing student-teachers/interns! Our program is located at the FCPS Career and Technology Center.
How has your student-teacher been prepared before entering your classroom?
During the first year of the TAM program, students complete three courses: Teaching as a Profession, Human Growth and Development, and Foundations of Curriculum and Instruction. Students also begin compiling their portfolio and complete it during the internship. Students are consistently engaged in identifying, analyzing, and practicing the fundamentals of effective teaching and classroom management, among many other areas of concentration, including cultural proficiency. This knowledge accumulates over the course of the program so your future intern is prepared to become a valuable asset within your classroom.
