Explore the world of plants and green careers with an emphasis on landscape design through this hands-on agriculture education program. Students develop practical skills in plant identification, plant growth, landscape planning, installation, and maintenance while applying scientific principles related to soils, plant health, irrigation, and integrated pest management. Through classroom instruction, greenhouse activities, and outdoor projects, students use technology, solve real-world problems, operate equipment safely, and explore sustainable practices that protect natural resources. Students also develop professional communication, teamwork, leadership, and business skills through authentic projects, career-connected learning experiences, FFA activities, and supervised agricultural experiences. The program prepares students for industry-recognized credentials, Certified Professional Horticulturist (CPH), postsecondary education, and careers in the green industry, including landscape design and management, horticulture, turfgrass management, nursery operations, and parks and grounds management.
