Research for the Personal Project is a little different than for a regular research paper or report. It's more like what you do while you're Inquirying and Analyzing in the MYP Design Cycle.
You may need some background information about your topic, but your research should focus on what you need to know or what skills you need to develop to achieve your product and learning goals.
You should aim for 5-10 valuable sources
Try to find at least one expert to interview.
Look at examples of similar products - what is it about them that made them “good.”
Check out How To books, videos, and guides.
Before deciding you're done with your research, go back to your research questions and make sure you can answer them all. If not, you're not done researching.
