Many websites exist for a variety of scholarships offered throughout California and the US.
Feel free to explore, but know to never pay money for scholarship information or applications.
The information listed below is for mostly local scholarships.

Paying for College
The most important step to obtain money to pay for college is to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) OR the California Dream Act (if appropriate). If you are unsure which is the one for you, ask your counselor.
The FAFSA and CA Dream Act Applications are now available. Submission deadline is April 2, 2024 ---> extended to May 2, 2024
FBHS will host the following events:
Financial Aid Info Night on January 11, 2024, from 5:30-6:30pm in the FBHS Library.
Financial Aid Workshop on February 6, 2024 from 6-8pm in the FBHS Library.

2023-2024 FBHS General Scholarship Information
The entire scholarship packet should be saved as a PDF (one file)- NOT a Google Doc.
Once completed, email the PDF to: scholarships@fbusd.us
Deadline: Wednesday, January 15, 2025 @ 5 PM*

Cover Page (sample) (Please do not put a picture of yourself on your cover letter)
Application Page – FORM must be typed! (Handwritten not accepted.)
Résumé – Must be limited to one page. You should have a current résumé in your advisory portfolio
Essay:
Helpful tips for writing this essay. Read your essay aloud to yourself or someone else, make necessary edits, and then request an English teacher proofread it with you; your final essay should be flawless.
Essay Part 1:
Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others.
AND
Essay Part 2:
In addition to the above, on a separate page, write a paragraph discussing what you see yourself doing immediately after high school as well as your long-term goals.
Two letters of Recommendation
The process to request a letter:
1-2 weeks before you need it, ask (don’t assume!) the your intended letter write to please write a letter for you. If they say yes, provide them with your completed Brag Sheets to assist them in discussing how wonderful you are.You need 2 letters (Letters are limited to one page each):
1- from a high school teacher
1- from another adult (not family)
Senior Brag Sheet (English) or Senior Brag Sheet (Spanish): You fill this out about yourself.
Make a copy, complete, then give to the person you are asking to write a letter for you.Family Brag Sheet (English) or Family Brag Sheet (Spanish): Your family member fills this out about you.
Make a copy, complete, then give to people you will be asking for letters of recommendation.Do not include Brag Sheets in scholarship applications. The role of the Brag Sheet is to help the letter writer know more about you.
Transcript: Please send Emily an email (etupper@fbusd.us) requesting a PDF copy of your transcript. If you wait until after 1/9/2024 the Fall 2024 semester grades will be posted on the transcript.
