American Heritage Girls: Something for every girl
by Braelynn Coakley
American Heritage Girls (AHG) is a Christian based program for girls ages 5-18 who want to have a fun time learning life skills, growing closer to God, and so much more! AHG was founded in 1995 by Patti Garibay. The troop started with only a hundred girls and now there are troops in every state and in 15 countries. The AHG Program is dedicated to the mission of building women of integrity through service to God, family, community, and country. I am an American Heritage Girl and I love that it has taught me leadership skills that I might not have otherwise had the opportunity to learn. I was a first year Explorer when I joined and am now leveling-up to a Patriot and I have loved every second of it! I have made new friends, earned badges, done service projects, learned more about helping others, and much more. My favorite badge that I have earned has probably been crafts. We learned how to make baskets, soap, and so many other interesting things. There are badges for everyone, whether you like science, technology, cooking, or sports, there is something for you. I encourage girls that are interested to totally look into this awesome program!!
