Information about EBCE for the 2024-2025 School Year
What is EBCE? Experienced Based Career Education, also referred to as Advanced Academic Internship, is a two-block class on A/B days (four blocks total, morning or afternoon) that lasts the entire year. Also, students will have the option of being in the program every other day. This course provides each student with four internships in career areas of your choice. We provide a list of more than 250 internships to choose possible sites. Students also have the opportunity to find a site that is willing to host them from their own personal connections. Students are assigned an in-house day to be on campus and will report to their internship site the other days of the course.
What are some of the benefits? Essentially, you have the chance to discover a passion to pursue after high school or discover what careers don’t interest you. You will have a rare opportunity to experience exciting tasks that very few get to see: surgeries, court proceedings, tv production, veterinary appointments, observe classes, fill prescriptions, and view a blueprint for a building. You will network, meet important people that can influence your future, and build your resume to impress potential employers/colleges. You may even get job offers.
What does Mr. O’Bryan look at? Application (Behavior, Teacher recommendations, grades, and attendance)
