If you're in our classrooms more than 100 hours a semester, you'll also serve as a substitute teacher with FCPS.
Substitute teachers receive an Employee ID and an FCPS email address.

Sub at least one day each semester - you won’t need new background checks and you’ll be paid for subbing! You may also sub for your cooperating teacher.
Upload your high school diploma to your PowerSchool checklist.
Please note: The process outlined below is initiated when your high school diploma is uploaded to your PowerSchool checklist.
Create an account with the Kentucky Educators Credentialing System (KECS).
Tip: Use your personal email address for all applications instead of your university-issued email. When you graduate, access to your university email may be discontinued.
FCPS HR will initiate your Emergency Substitute certificate on your behalf. Watch your personal email account for a notification from the Kentucky Educators Credentialing System (KECS).
When you receive an email from
no-reply@kecs.randasolutions.com,
log in to KCES and complete your portion of the application. Under your profile, choose "Application."
When in Application, click "Emergency Substitute Certification."
Complete the "Character and Fitness" section of the application and submit.
When approved, download the Emergency Substitute certificate and email to: Sarah Holleran.
