Filmmaking & Cinematic Arts

The certificate in Filmmaking and Cinematic Arts will provide students with a hands-on, project-based overview of all elements of filmmaking, from the treatment of the script, art design to the production and editing, to the final distribution. Upon completion of the certificate program, students will have general practical experience in producing, directing, screenwriting, art direction, casting, cinematography, lighting, sound, set design, graphics, editing, post-scoring and distribution.

Students will acquire an understanding of the collaborative nature of filmmaking while working directly with industry professionals. Students will also increase their media literacy as they explore filmmaking as a means of communication and dissemination of ideas.

Graphic Design

The Graphic Design program is available to students interested in graphic design, video game design, digital video editing, or desktop publishing. Graphic design offers a wide range of dynamic and creative courses to choose from, and you can complete the entire degree online. 

The project-based courses in the program have assignments designed to simulate working with clients. Examples of class projects include filming and editing music videos, logo design, character modeling for video game design, and much more!  Our highly qualified, innovative, and energetic instructors will help prepare you for an interesting and exciting career. They are connected to the local design industry, and AAS students will gain on-the-job experience through our required internship program. 

You'll be prepared for a career in design, with several specialization options for certificates or an associate degree. You will also learn how to use software from the Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere Pro. Graphic Design has three tracks for you to choose from. Each track leads to a two-year Associate in Applied Science degree. We also have certificate options available in Graphic Design, Video Game Design, Digital and Video Editing, Certificates consist of five or six specialized courses in the area of your choice.



Theatre Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) Pathway_FCPS

Are you interested in: Acting? Performing? Directing? Turning your computer gaming skills toward technical theatre innovations? If so, BCTC’s Theatre program is for you.

Apply fundamental, real-world skills in the performing arts with hands-on experience in theater production. BCTC produces at least one show per semester and offers summer opportunities for you as well. In addition to our own productions, we have successfully partnered with UK Theatre and Studio Players and a number of local theatres/art groups (including the Actors Guild of Lexington, Talon Winery, etc.). We have close ties to many talented actors & designers from the Bluegrass & beyond.
