There were challenges that went along with this process of becoming an inclusive school.
The reluctance of some teachers.
Students not truly knowing what inclusion was.
The misconception about inclusiveness with teachers/staff.
Getting buy in with some students/teachers.
Planning activities, lessons, and arranging for bus transportation for leadership summits.
The above was some challenges that we ran into and tried to find ways to solve them. Many of our solutions to these problems came from all the students being actively engaged, either through participation in our main event, through Flip Grids, being part of the Leadership Summit, and many other activities we did with and without Special Olympics. We still have several challenges that need to be solved, but hopefully all of those will be solved by next school year.
