The FDMCC held its first meeting of the 2024–2025 school year with eighteen returning and new members. During this meeting, members received the official FDMCC polo shirts and hats, marking a new stage of club identity and representation. The club also prepared for its upcoming meeting with President Surangel Whipps Jr. of Palau and elected its officers for the school year.
Eleven members of the FDMCC met with His Excellency Surangel S. Whipps Jr., President of the Republic of Palau, for a leadership discussion at Café Kitchen in the Hyatt Regency Guam. President Whipps shared his personal journey to becoming president, speaking about leadership, perseverance, and service to one’s people. Members also learned about the culture and beauty of Palau. This event was especially meaningful as it marked the first time many members met a national leader, strengthening FDMCC’s mission of connecting with Micronesian leadership and cultural identity.
Nineteen members of the FDMCC attended an educational presentation by Mr. Mark Jones, who spoke on behalf of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) Consulate Office. He shared information about the history, culture, government, politics, and education system of the FSM through a detailed presentation and discussion. This event was valuable for members, as it deepened their understanding of a neighboring Micronesian nation closely connected to Guam. It also marked the beginning of FDMCC’s ongoing partnership with the FSM Consulate, leading to future cultural collaborations.
The Father Dueñas Micronesia Cultural Club was featured during Songfest on March 28, 2025 through a student-produced commercial highlighting the club’s mission and identity. The video showcased FDMCC’s focus on cultural awareness, brotherhood, and leadership, while introducing the club to the wider FDMS community. This marked the club’s first appearance in Songfest, representing a new step in sharing Micronesian culture through media and school spirit.
Eight members of the FDMCC met with Her Excellency Dr. Hilda Heine, President of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, along with her secretary, for a cultural and leadership exchange. President Heine shared about life in the Marshall Islands, where many communities live closely by the ocean and travel by boat between islands. She also offered life advice centered on education, resilience, and pride in cultural identity. This marked the club’s second time meeting a world leader and was a memorable experience, especially for members meeting a president for the first time.
Three members of the FDMCC attended the 1st Annual Horizon Summit, a leadership youth conference held at Sinajana Arts Center in collaboration with Guam W.A.V.E. Clubs. Participants explored themes of vision, purpose, and leadership while engaging with peers and mentors from across the region. This event was meaningful because it gave students insight into their future roles as leaders and connected them with a broader network of youth committed to service.
