PT Learning Support
The Learning Support Base is situated within the main school building and is open to all students. It is a place students come to ask questions, seek guidance and receive additional support. It is a calm and peaceful area where pupils can relax and take time-out, as required.
Learning Support specialises in the following:
Supporting students and teachers, both within and outside the classroom
Creating individualised learning plans in conjunction with teachers, PSA staff, students, and partners
Specialist training for PSAs to ensure students are appropriately supported
Creating new strategies and methods to help consolidate and develop students’ skills
Creating individual timetables appropriate to individual student needs
Cooperating with professionals and parents to ensure we work together effectively to meet the needs of our students
Learning Support helps pupils to work through the BGE courses in S1 - S3 and gain National qualifications, but this is not all. Through our bespoke timetabling and ability to take pupils out of the class to help them on a one to one basis we are able to offer the Young Enterprise programmes and working with our college links at UHI as well as our partners at Skills Development Scotland and My Future My Success UHI .
Within guidance we work as a team with:
Pupils
Parents
Outside partners
PSE Staff
Teaching Staff
Learning Support
PSA staff
Working together, we help and support our students to help and support pupils to get the very best that they can from their time in school and into adulthood, work and future study.

Child's Plan
‘‘A Child’s Plan is a record of agreed actions in support of identified needs of a child. This may be single or multi agency, short & simple or complex.’’
Pupils have Plans for a wide variety of reasons; the guiding principal behind a plan is to ensure the young person is always at the centre of the actions that are agreed. The young person, their family, school staff and any other partners to the Plan will input in to this. This can include the GP, Nurse Practitioners, and other specialists who can assist the young person. There is no set time for a Plan to be in place, but while open, a Plan should be reviewed regularly – usually twice during the academic year but more regularly if appropriate.

Named Person
The named person for Farr High School is Katherine Van Voornveld. There is a named person available for every young person and their families in Scotland and it's important that you know who you can contact if you need to access support for the wellbeing of your child. There is information about this available to the young people and their families and which can be found in Getting it right for every child: role of the named person.
