Report cards showing students’ letter grades are issued at the end of each six weeks. This grade represents the cumulative total for the semester. The parents should examine these cards. They will give grade information for each subject taken by the student. The percentages associated with the letter grades are as follows:

LATE/MAKE-UP WORK
1. Regular Assignments Due to Student Absence: Those assignments normally due the next day or within the next few school days. A student shall have additional time, equal to the amount of time he/she was absent to turn in these assignments, according to district attendance policies.
2. Advance Assignments Due to Student Absence: Those assignments assigned at least (10) days in advance of being due. Students who are absent with a doctor's note and have received those assignments in advance may be required by their teacher to turn in the advance assignment upon their return to school.
3. All work should be turned in by the end of the unit in which it is assigned. Teachers have the discretion to be more lenient with this expectation, but not more stringent.
4. Students may be required to come in outside of normal school hours (such as during tutoring) to complete some assignments due to the nature of the assignment (labs, filming of outside events, etc.).
5. ICU Program: All late and missing work is filtered through our ICU program. FHS has empowered students and parents with the ICU program which encourages students to complete ALL of their work for full credit and utilizes a database which automatically communicates with parents/guardians when a student fails to complete and/or turn in an assignment. Through that program, students are regularly encouraged to complete work in a timely manner and are given extra time and support to become academically successful. ICU supports include, but not limited to, Seminar ICU labs, working lunch, after school tutoring, AM tutoring, and Saturday tutoring.
6. Teachers may be more lenient with these policies but may not be more stringent.
7. NOTE: This policy may not apply in full to dual-credit courses as those are also bound by guidelines of the cooperating higher educational institution that is also granting credit.
RETESTING POLICY
The Farmington High School believes that assessments (tests) are both a method for students to demonstrate their learning and a process to gather information on what students know to help better guide instruction to support students. Based on those beliefs, these are the expectations on retesting:
1. Any student may retake an assessment.
2. To do so, a student must attend one before school or after school tutoring session prior to the retake.
3. The retake can be completed before school or after school during tutoring, during seminar, or in the testing center (time and location of retest is at teacher discretion).
4. The student will receive the higher of the two grades.
5. Time limit to retest would be within the 6 week grading period or before the next unit assessment.
6. As with makeup work, teachers may be more lenient with this policy but may not be more stringent.
