All staff receive a Gmail email address consisting of their official school initials plus @farlingtonschool.com. Official school initials are mostly just two letters, based on first and last name. Those with double-barrelled names will have three letter codes. In addition some other staff will have three letter codes if there are two staff with the same initials or the two letter code has been used in recent years by someone who has now left.
Two factor authentication is enforced across the organisation, so it pays to have your smartphone with you when you sign in on anything other than your school-issued Chromebook.
You are encouraged to add a profile picture to your account.
If you use Gmail in your personal life, it is a good idea to have a different picture so that you do not get confused when you log on.
If you have an IT issue it is essential that this be reported using an IT ticket. Emails are not accepted for this, other than to communicate further for a ticket that is already raised. There will be no action for any IT jobs in respect of any unticketed issues. This is not to be difficult but because this is the only way that we can ensure a fair and efficient system. This policy applies equally to all teaching and non- teaching staff and to managers.
Please keep in mind that we are an eco school, and whilst you're welcome to print, please consider whether this is actually necessary as you can upload documents to The Learning Platform. Any printing or copying you do will be your own responsibility,
The main (and fastest) printing and copying device for Middle and Senior Schools is in the Mansion House and there is one in the Lower School Library for all those in this location. There is also a copier in the Staff Room, that can of course be used by anyone. There is a further copier in the Sixth Form Centre for students and staff who work in this location, it is located in the Sixth Form Study room.
You will need a printer code to access these devices, which is issued by registering on the UniFLOW print system.
If you notice that a copier is blocked or is running out of toner, please inform the IT office using an IT Support ticket.
