In terms of finding your way around the site, below you will find two ariel photographs of the site (the Mansion House end and the Peto end) to help you orientate yourself. You can see the names of key buildings and what goes on in them. And if you do get lost, just ask a colleague or a pupil. After all, we were all new once!

Mansion House

The Mansion House is the historic originally Jacobean part of the school and houses the Music Department, Farlington Book Exchange, the Meeting Room, the Headmaster's Study and the Head’s P/A’s Office. The upper floors are the boarding house. There are also ladies’ loos at the top of the stairs. Gents are on the ground floor, to the left of the main staircase through the door and up the steps next to Maintenance.

Moberly Building

This is a key teaching building for Years 7 upwards. It is named after sisters Isabel and Charlotte Moberly, the 2nd and 3rd Headmistresses of Farlington.

Ground floor: M1 and M2 are generally used for English and M3 & M4 are used for Maths. First floor: M5 is used for Geography, M6 is used for History, M7 is used for other social sciences, M8 is mostly used for Art History or other A Level subjects, and M9 (Moberly Boardroom) is also usually reserved for Sixth Form lessons.

Simpson Building

Known informally as the Science Block, this building is named after Miss Effie Simpson, who was the 4th Headmistress of Farlington, as well as a former pupil of the school.

Once inside, entrance to labs is controlled by an electronic key fob. If you are a scientist you will get one of these and if you're not, and you have cover for example, you will need to borrow a fob from Reception in order to get in. Alternatively, you can ring one of the bells inside and a staff member should come and let you in.

Languages Centre

This consists of two adjacent prefabricated buildings, next to the astro-turf.

Building 1 on the left houses classrooms L1, L2 and L3. Latin, EAL and modern languages are normally taught in this building. At the side of this building is the office of the Assistant Heads of Middle and Senior Schools.

Building 2 on the right contains classrooms L5 and L6 and are the main classrooms for Spanish and French. There is also a dedicated Orals Room.

Old Courtyard Buildings

First of all, be careful how you go in this largely cobbled courtyard! The cobbles are not even and we are not allowed to level them. These former stable block buildings include the Marketing & Admissions Office, the Main Reception, Administration Office (Operations, HR, Finance, Transport, IT, School Secretary and Data Manager) and the Staff Room. You will also find the Medical Centre in this location. On the far side, you can gain access to the Design Foyer and the Drama Studio, which is the former chapel, and is accessed by a spiral staircase just inside the door.

Technology Buildings

On the far side of this area is T1 (Food & Nutrition), T2 (Computing and Graphic Design), T3 (D&T Workshop) and T4 (multi-use classroom), T5 (Art Room) plus T6 which is Learning Support.

The Music practice rooms for instrumental lessons are also in this location between T3 and T4. By the way, children up to Year 9 are allowed to absent themselves from lessons for paid instrumental and Speech & Drama lessons. They do not hit the same lesson every week and pupils should let you know in advance by either posting a message on The Learning Platform or emailing you. Tell them which you prefer. For Year 10 upwards, these lessons take place outside of lesson times, as these are exam classes.

Peto Building

This building is named after Olive Peto who was the 7th Headmistress of Farlington. It houses the majority of classrooms for the Lower School (P5 to 10) with Reception (P3 & P4) being in the Trina Mawer Buildings. (P1 and P2 are the Little Farlington Nursery. However, all classrooms in this vicinity start with ‘P’, including the Peto Huts which are for Years 5 and 6.

Trina Mawer Buildings

Trina Mawer (pronounced 'more') was the 9th Headmistress of Farlington. The largest building here is the Trina Mawer Hall, which is a large multi-functional space, used as a dining hall, assembly hall, function room and concert space. This is where staff eat their lunch each day. Staff should not wait in line behind pupils but make their way to the front of the queue, pick up a tray and cutlery and choose from the various options available. All courses are selected at once. There is a vegetarian option every day and gluten free staff are catered for. Just ask the catering staff.

The far wing of this building is reserved for Little Farlington (Nursery). The nearside wing houses Reception classrooms to the left and the Lower School Office, and the Head of Lower School‘s office on the right.
