High School English Language Arts Distance Learning Plan

Communication to Students & Families

Communication Methods: Teachers will be using Google Meet, Hangouts, Phone Calls, Emails, the Remind App and Schoology messages.

Weekly email through IC to parents

  • Infinite Campus/Schoology grades will be updated regularly and messages will be sent home to families each week.

  • If students are not engaged in learning, a message will be sent to the students and/or parents (via schoology, phone call, or other means)

  • Teachers may coordinate google hangouts to discuss individual progress with students

  • Teachers can access the Schoology Analytics tab to see when the last time students accessed material.

Teachers will provide:

  • Clear learning targets/objectives will be shared along with assessment criteria of how students will show their learning.

  • Direct instruction will be offered primarily through video lessons - including engagement strategies found in the FHS Instructional Framework

  • Discussion Post will be utilized through schoology.

  • Flipgrid - Students can provide feedback to the teacher, explain their learning, communicate with one another, and see each other’s faces.

  • Screencastify will be used for breaking down difficult reading passages

  • Office hours will be posted for each teacher and be conducted through google hangout/zoom/etc.

Students will:

  • Students will provide feedback through discussion posts, Schoology polls, Flipgrid or other apps/platforms, and through their completed journals, assignments, and assessments submitted to their teacher.

  • Students will use Google Meet to get guided practice.

  • Students that have not been accessing information and have not been in contact with us will be contacted by FHS staff for support.

High School Math Distance Learning Plan

Communication to Students & Families

Materials will be put out in “chunks” at least 2 times per week. Frequent check-ins with students will be initiated by teachers and all students will have the ability to initiate communication with teachers through various mediums each day.

  • Office hours will be posted for each teacher and be conducted through google hangout/zoom/etc.

  • Teachers will provide guided notes and/or completed notes based on the nature of the lesson and the needs of individual students.

  • Online instructional videos are available for some on the math textbooks if students access the textbook on a computer instead of the ipad.

  • Frequent formative assessments will be given to ensure informed instructional decisions are made based on student needs.

Students will:

  • Students will submit work electronically and feedback will be delivered promptly and specifically for individual students.

  • Feedback will be solicited through google forms, discussion forums (in some classes), and assessments submitted to the teacher electronically.

  • Students will use Google Meet to get guided practice.

  • Students that have not been accessing information and have not been in contact with us will be contacted by FHS staff for support.
