Practices occur Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4:15-5:30 pm in Room 541 We encourage speech team members to be involved in other activities, sports, fine arts, and volunteer/work, so coaches can create a practice schedule that works for anyone interested in joining!  

Competition is open to all 7-12th grade students at Ben Franklin and Fargo North.

Speech is a co-curricular activity sanctioned by the NDHSAA.  Varsity competition is open to all 7th through 12th graders. There are 14 different events categorized into three main types: interp (acting) events, limited prep events, and public address events.  Speech activities promote essential 21st century skills including communication, research, listening, and writing.  Competition runs January through mid-April, and North usually attends 10-12 tournaments each year. 

North Speech team is a charter member of the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA).  The NSDA is the world’s largest honor society devoted to speech and debate activities, and contributes awards and recognition to students, coaches, and schools.
