K-5 teachers use Seesaw for family engagement and communication.
Please refrain from using a different platform (such as ClassDojo or Remind) for this task. We want to provide a consistent experience for all families.
K-5 teachers post parent communication at least 1X/week.
Rationale: Research consistently highlights the positive impact of family involvement in education. Providing information to help parents talk to their child about what they are learning in school enhances student engagement and motivation. When families are involved achievement, attendance rates, and attitudes toward school improve.
Goal: Engage parents in what is happening in the classroom so they can better communicate with their child about learning.
Recommendation: Teachers use Seesaw to share and collect student work once per week to build student familiarity and independence.
This page has access to Seesaw created instructions to help you with the many different Seesaw Features. They are organized by category and are helpful if you have forgotten how to do something.
Below are questions with more details about Fargo specifically.
Can we change the name of our classes to make it easier for our students?
Yes. Go to the Wrench in the upper right corner. Click the small arrow on the Class Name cell. Change the name as you wish, it is helpful for parents to see your last name first.
You can also change your class theme and your class icon if you wish.
Are the district created science/social studies available and the links working?
The links are included in the Shared Drive for your grade level under the Science/Social Studies pacing guide.
Links will likely get outdated, we do not have anyone managing these. They were made for the pandemic and then supported for the next few years.
When teachers create formative assessments, can they share to our District Library?
Yes! After creating the assessment, go to the three dots on the lower right corner. Select ‘Share Activity with Teachers’ and select District libraries. You will be asked which specific libraries you want to share with.

Common Issues
How are new students added to Seesaw?
We have DISTRICT ROSTERING from PowerSchool for both Seesaw and Dreambox
As soon as a student PHYSICALLY SHOWS UP to school, the Admin Assistants enter them into PowerSchool.
Once the student is entered into PowerSchool, they are added to Seesaw and Dreambox via an automatic sync that takes place overnight.
The teacher does not need to do anything to add the student.
Common Concerns:
Teacher is told student is coming and wants them in Seesaw right away.
Unfortunately, they have to wait until the student arrives and the next day Seesaw will be ready.
The student has arrived, but they are not yet in Seesaw.
PowerSchool has to sync with Seesaw and that happens overnight.
A student has moved and is still in my Seesaw.
This one is for the teacher to REMOVE.
Open the Wrench in the upper right corner.
Find Manage Students >
Click on Student’s Name
Scroll to the bottom and select the red button “Remove”
Students not getting into their specials classes and library (Music, Art, Gym)
Sign out and sign back in using Classlink. Don't use any QR codes from Seesaw.
Check in your Admin Dashboard, are the classes listed under the student name? If not, this may be a PowerSchool issue, check with your Administrative Assistant to see if the child is enrolled in the proper classes on PowerSchool.
A Special Services Teacher would like access to their class in Seesaw (EL, Reading Recovery, GT)
Check your Admin Site
Do you see their class?
Do they have students?
Check the student name is the student showing as in the class as well as in their classroom teachers class?
If you don’t see the teacher or a class, have the teacher turn names into the Lead Secretary to add to PowerSchool. The class will sync overnight and be available for the teacher the next day.
Be sure the teacher logs in using the Google Button, not typing their address in the blanks.
Class has lots of assignments they are finished using showing in the teacher activities.
Teachers can archive assignments- Go to Activities> Find Assignment> Click the three dots in lower right corner> Select Archive
Archiving will not delete work already finished.
Can also Pin to Top, Print, or get a Student Link from this spot.
Log out using the GEAR on the upper left by teacher name.
Sign back in using the G Teacher Sign In with Google button, highlighted in green.
DO NOT type in the @fargoschools.org address, it does not work with our set up.
