A space in the library for recording podcasts, interviews, and audio projects.
The Sound Studio is a small, comfortable recording space on the first floor of the Shadek-Fackenthal Library. It seats up to four people, with a microphone at each chair and a RØDECaster Pro II mixer that makes it simple to capture clean audio. No audio experience is needed.

Updated photos coming soon!
Four microphones, one beside each seat, so everyone gets a clean track of their own.
RØDECaster Pro II, an all-in-one production console that mixes your voices live and records each person on a separate track.
Seating for four in a quiet, acoustically friendly room.
Headphones available.
The studio’s mixer connects to your computer by USB, so you can record with whatever software you prefer. Bring your laptop, plug in, and go. Many of these programs can do both audio and video.
Audacity (free)
GarageBand (mac)
iMovie
iMovie
Zoom or Google Meet (great for recording a remote guest)
Not sure where to start? Audacity is a good free choice for audio, and iMovie or Google Vids work well if you’re adding video.
💡 Quick tip: Before you hit record, set your software’s microphone input to the RØDECaster Pro II. Otherwise it will record from your laptop’s built-in mic instead of the studio mics.
Sessions are limited to length you booked.
Please cancel ahead of time if your plans change so others can book.
Leave the space as you found it: chairs in place, mics and cables where they belong.
Please don’t move or adjust the equipment. If something isn’t working, contact IET.
Space booking is available for students, faculty & staff.
The Sound Studio is available during library operating hours.
