Game Notes

The Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team (6-3-6, 4-1-3 CC) readies for its final non-conference game of the 2024 regular season when it travels to play Mary Washington (8-4-3) Saturday at noon. The Diplomats are 2-2-3 in their non-conference slate this season and are unbeaten in its last four games against non-conference opponents. F&M will look to continue that streak on Saturday.

Last Week

The Diplomats went 1-1 against Centennial Conference opponents last week. 

In its 1-0 loss against Dickinson, F&M outshot the Red Devils, 11-10, in the contest. However, a goal in the 69th minute was the deciding factor as the Diplomats suffered their first CC loss of the season. Kate Boujoukos led the game with five shots, followed by Alex Wilson tallying two. Lucy Fleming made six saves in net to keep the Diplomats within striking distance. Read the full recap here. 

Franklin & Marshall rebounded from Wednesday's loss with a big upset-victory over No. 8 Johns Hopkins on Saturday. Colleen Ferrarese buried her first-career game-winning goal in the back of the net during the 38th minute of the match. From that point, the Diplomats played lockdown defense with Fleming making seven saves in the second half to knock off the Blue Jays. The win marked the first F&M victory over a top-10 opponent since taking down then-ranked No. 2 JHU in the 2021 CC Tournament Semifinals, 1-0. Read the full recap here. 

Following the win at Johns Hopkins, Ferrarese was named the CC Offensive Player of the Week, while Fleming was selected as the Centennial Defensive Player of the Week.

Last Time vs. Mary Washington

The Diplomats defeated the Eagles, 2-1, in their last meeting in 1987. The game was the first contest between the two programs.

Mary Washington Team Preview

Mary Washington carries a two-game winning streak into Saturday's matchup with the Diplomats. UMW has a record of 1-1 against Coast-to-Coast (C2C) opponents this year with a win over Salisbury and a loss to No. 3 Christopher Newport. The Eagles also carry a record of 1-1 against CC teams into Saturday's match after beating McDaniel and losing to Dickinson. Eliza Franklin leads the team in both goals (five) and points (10), so far this year. Maci Landel currently holds the team-lead in assist with five. Goalkeeper Adriana Thompson sports an 0.91 goals-against average and a save percentage of 71.4 percent this year.
