Game Notes

The Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team (6-4-6, 4-1-3 CC) wraps up the regular season with two Centennial Conference (CC) games this week. The Diplomats hit the road on Wednesday to play Gettysburg (2-9-4, 1-5-2 CC) at 7:00 p.m. before returning to Tylus Field on Saturday to host Washington College (7-2-7, 3-2-3 CC) at 3:00 p.m.

Last Week

The Diplomats fell in its lone match against Mary Washington last Saturday, 2-0. In F&M's final non-conference contest of the 2024 regular season, the Diplomats generated multiple scoring opportunities but couldn't find the back of the net. F&M had its greatest chance come with 29 minutes left in the game as Zoe Warne looked like she put in the equalizer, but the junior was called offside on the play. Dahlia Pepe led the team with four shots, while Kate Boujoukos, Grace Craig and Katherine Finnerty recorded one shot attempt each. Read the full recap here. 

Last Time vs. Gettysburg

Franklin & Marshall matched up with Gettysburg twice last season, defeating the Bullets in both contests. 

In the Diplomats' 2-0 win over Gettysburg during the regular season, F&M picked up its ninth shutout-victory of the season to clinch a spot in the Centennial Conference Tournament. Mikaela Timmermans '24 picked up the game's opening goal off an assist from Alex Wilson in the seventh minute of the match. Alison Francis '24 added an insurance goal in the 43rd minute as she tipped in a pass from Riley Durborow '24 to close the first half. The Diplomats then peppered the Gettysburg net with 22 total shot attempts and 12 shots on net. Lucy Fleming only had to make one save as she picked up her seventh shutout of the season. F&M and Gettysburg met again in the first round of the CC Tournament with the Diplomats once again winning, 2-0. Warne scored the opening goal in the 40th minute of play on the Diplomats' 12th shot of the first half. Franklin & Marshall added insurance in the 86th minute as Francis found Timmermans in stride to seal the game. F&M outshot Gettysburg, 26-4, with Elizabeth Jones posting a game-high six shots in the match. Franklin & Marshall would advance to play Swarthmore in the CC Tournament Semifinals. Last Time vs. Washington College

Franklin & Marshall concluded its 2023 regular season by playing Washington College to a 2-2 draw. Trailing 2-1 in the final minute, Lillian Williams connected with Jones to tie the game. Williams also had a goal in the 24th minute of the match coming off an assist from Timmermans. Fleming made four saves in net to keep F&M within striking distance. Read the full recap here.

Gettysburg Team Preview

The Bullets picked up their first conference win last Saturday with a 2-1 victory over Bryn Mawr. This season, Gettysburg averages 0.47 goals per game, while allowing 1.47 goals per contest to opponents. Jane Daiutolo leads the Bullets in both goals (four) and points (nine) so far this season. Zoe Want currently has the team-lead in assists with two this year. Goalkeeper Alex Jurow holds a goals-against average of 1.47 and a save percentage of 73.8 percent.

Washington College Team Preview

Before traveling to Lancaster on Saturday, the Shorewomen play a road match at Swarthmore on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Kaileigh Brady has scored a team-leading five times this year and has 11 points so far this season. Meanwhile, Lindsey Nguyen has dished out a team-high three assists this year. Goalkeeper Olivia Allen sports a conference-low 0.56 goals-against average and a CC-leading save percentage of 85.7 percent. Allen is also third in the nation for shutouts with 10 this year.
