The Franklin & Marshall volleyball team (10-4) hits the road this coming week as the Diplomats travel to Dickinson on Wednesday at 7 p.m. before visiting Bryn Mawr on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Last Week
F&M closed out its home stand last week with a 3-1 defeat of Lancaster Bible last Wednesday night in front of the Mayser Center crowd before a 3-0 sweep of Washington College on its home floor. In both games, Gianna Mangiamele led the team with 10 kills, while Liah Perez registered 34 total assists on the week. Defensively, Meredith Mangum tallied 34 digs while helping the Diplomats keep the opposition to a .061 hitting percentage.
In Saturday's match, Mangiamele finished with a hitting percentage of .833 on 12 attacks, good for a career high. The win over the Shorewomen was also the 34th consecutive time that F&M was defeated Washington College.
Over the past three matches, the Diplomats have dropped just one set and swept two opponents.
Last Time vs. Dickinson
In its 2022 matchup against the Red Devils, F&M defeated Dickinson 3-1 behind a career-high 19 kills for Sydney Levins. The two teams went back-and-forth in the opening game with eight lead changes in the set and 13 ties before the Diplomats won four of the final five points to close out the set. F&M controlled much of the second frame, taking a 17-13 lead following a 6-2 run. The Diplomats then ended the set with ease with a 25-17 win. Dickinson narrowly avoided the sweep, as it took the third set, 25-15, but F&M responded with a 25-18, match clinching fourth frame.
Last Time vs. Bryn Mawr
F&M met the Owls on senior day at the Mayser Center with the Diplomats shuting out Bryn Mawr in the final regular season home game of 2022. Annmarie Earley led the team with 12 kills while F&M held the Owls to just 27 total points on the day. The Diplomats won each of the sets by double digits while also hitting above .550 in the match.
Previewing Dickinson
The Red Devils enter Wednesday's tilt coming off of a 3-0 loss to Haverford. It was the second conference match for Dickinson, who also dropped a 3-0 contest to Swarthmore on September 23. The Red Devils won just one match in the team's first seven games before winning three of their next four. Dickinson is currently on a two-game losing streak. Offensively, Amelia Kim leads the way for the Red Devils with 137 kills while Camile Dofiles has surpassed 300 assists. On the defensive end, Ann Marie Patterson has registered 219 digs.
Previewing Bryn Mawr
The Owls dropped their first conference match of the season, falling to Swarthmore in three sets on Tuesday night. Bryn Mawr had won just one contest in its first six tilts before a brief, two match winning streak. The loss to the Garnet was a part of back-to-back losses for the Owls. No player for Bryn Mawr has reached over 100 kills, as Emma Loller leads the team with 84. Saya Feldman reached 101 digs following Tuesday's match against Swarthmore while Omi Oliver is up to 157 assists on the year.
