The Franklin & Marshall field hockey team (6-4, 3-0) looks to continue an undefeated run to start Centennial Conference play with a pair of away trips this week. The Diplomats head to Gettysburg on Wednesday, October 9, at 4:00 pm before traveling to Muhlenberg on Saturday, October 12, at 7:00 pm.
Last Week
Franklin & Marshall continued a strong opening to the Centennial Conference play with a pair of wins at Tylus Field last week with a 6-2 over Dickinson on Wednesday evening and a 1-0 win over then #10 Bryn Mawr College. The six goals against Dickinson was the most scored by the Diplomats in a single game this season, as a 5-1 first half guided F&M to the win. Goals came from Hannah Fitzgerald (2), Jessica Miller, Caitlin Hoover, Caroline Krisko, and Bella Konchar as the team put 14 of 16 shots on target. Meghan Dole made three stops in the first three quarter, while Jorja Pastore made two saves in the fourth quarter. The win over Bryn Mawr was the program's first win against an opponed ranked in the top ten since 2019, as Annie Malatesta followed up on a rebound off a penalty corner for the game's lone goal in the first quarter. F&M outshot the Owls 12-10, while Dole had four saves in the shutout. Malatesta earned the Centennial Conference's Defensive Athlete of the Week honors.

The Diplomats made use of a Sophie Carroll goal in the first half proved the difference maker in a 1-0 win over the Bullets in the 2023 edition of the matchup in Lancaster. Keira Boensch proved the assist to Sophie Carroll in the second quarter in a game where F&M outshot Gettysburg 25-5, including seven shots from Carroll. The Diplomats defense allowed just on shot on goal, which Meghan Dole saved. The shutout was one of 8 for Franklin & Marshall in the 2023 season.

F&M picked up a 3-0 win against the Mules in last year's game, which marked the team's fourth straight shutout at that point, all over Centennial Conference opponents. Annie Malatesta opened scoring in the first quarter with a converted penalty stroke. Jillian Somers had the team's only goal against Haverford, while Morgan Cherry scored in the defeat against Johns Hopkins. Gettysburg has played in six games decided by a goal and holds a 3-3 record in this contests. Bella Bonazinga is tied for the second most goals (9) among Centennial Conference players, while Brinsley Rushe is tied for the third-most assists (4). Between the sticks, Emilia Saccento is averaging the third fewest goals per game in the conference (1.143) and the fourth-best save percentage (.783). Gettysburg has the fifth-best goal margin (1.00) in the conference.
Muhlenberg Team Preview
The Mules (5-5, 0-3) have yet to earn a victory in Centennial Conference action, suffering losses to #17 Ursinus (2-1) and #4 Johns Hopkins (2-0). Erin Jackson passed to Abba Diglio off a penalty corner in the fourth corner to tie against Ursinus in the fourth quarter, although the Bears retook the lead a few minutes later. Muhlenberg was outshot by one goal in the game (9-8), while Maddie Schwartz made two saves in the game. She saved four shots in the loss against Johns Hopkins as the Mules were kept to just a shot against last year's national championship runner-up. Erin DiSandro and Abba Diglio each have nine goals and are tied for the second most goals among Centennial players. DiSandro's five assists is also tied for the most in the conference.
